Staff and student rarely use acidic material. However, it is good practice to have a response procedure due to acid exposure or spill response. 

 

Chemical Spills

 

If acid is spilled outside of a chemical hood:

   1) Evacuate the area

 

   2) Close the doors

 

   3) Post the area with a sign to prevent others from entering

 

   4) Notify the Pejabat Polis Bantuan, UiTM Shah Alam ( 03-55442157/2143 )

 

   5) Report to OSH FKE Click Here.

 

Skin Contact

 

The following first aid procedures shall be initiated for skin contact:

   1) Immediately wash the area of contact for at least 15 minutes

 

   2) Remove all contaminated clothing

 

   3) Contact the Pusat Kesihatan, UiTM Shah Alam ( 03-55483627)

 

   4) Report to OSH FKE Click Here.

 

Eye Contact

 

The following first aid procedures shall be initiated for eye contact:

   1) Immediately proceed to the nearest eyewash or sink and while holding the eyelids open, flush the

        eyes for at least 15 minutes with large amounts of water

 

   2) Contact the Pusat Kesihatan, UiTM Shah Alam ( 03-55483627)

 

   3) Report to OSH FKE Click Here.

 

Ingestion

 

The following first aid procedures shall be initiated for ingestion:

   1) First, dilute the acid by giving large quantities of water

 

   2) Give several glasses of milk

 

   3) Contact the Pusat Kesihatan, UiTM Shah Alam ( 03-55483627)

 

   4) Do NOT induce vomiting

 

   5) Never give anything by mouth to an unconscious or convulsing person

Inhalation

 

The following first aid procedures shall be initiated for inhalation:

    1) Remove victim to fresh air
